T Series Specification
Strainer shall be constructed completely of non-corrodible materials. Body shall be fiberglass construction incorporating a .100” corrosion liner on all interior surfaces and flange faces that are not PVC. Liner shall be constructed of one layer of resin-rich “C” veil, followed by two layers of 1.5 ounce glass mat, impregnated with isophthalic polyester resin.
The inlet and outlet are to be flanged connections. Flange to be drilled to 150# ANSI standard drilling pattern. The lid is to be manufactured of clear acrylic sometimes reinforced with fiberglass frame to allow unobstructed visual inspection of the basket. Lid shall be sealed with an ethylene propylene “O” ring.
Strainer is to be built with an outlet structure to enlarge the opening in the basket chamber. Outlet are of the basket chamber shall be a minimum of four times the area of the inlet pipe. Designs similar to a pipe cross, with the outlet of the basket chamber being a nozzle similar to the inlet, are not acceptable.
Supply a V-wire 316 stainless steel basket with 3/16” square holes and 62% open area. Supply one spare basket for change-out.
Strainer to be T series as manufactured at Mer-Made Filter, Denmark, SC 29042, 803-793-4265.
Option – Reducing strainer
Strainer outlet shall reduce to pump suction size by use of a full concentric reducing section.
Typical Aquatic strainer housings are fiberglass reinforced plastic construction; pressure tested to 50 PSI. Features include isophthalic fiberglass resin, quick opening latches, see-thru lid, 316 stainless steel v-wire basket with 3/16 square holes and 62% open area. Many alternate basket materials and opening types ( perforations) are available. For seawater service (as opposed to pool water with salt added for chlorine generation or aquariums) we suggest duplex stainless steel (2205 alloy) or Hastelloy. Strainers are supplied with flanged connections drilled to 150 lb. ANSI standard.
The FO (Full-Outlet) Series basket chamber has a large open area to allow water flow all through the basket, minimizing pressure loss and maximizing time between cleaning. This flow pattern utilizes more basket area so that debris does not plug up in a circular area at the exit of the pipe
